Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Can any dog attend your training programmes?

Any dog is of course welcome to train with us, however there are some dogs that would require sessions prior to starting the training programme. Typically speaking these are dogs that have aggression issues that prevents any close contact with other humans/animals. For these dogs, there will always be prerequisites to starting the programme which we will discuss in your free consultation.

  2. How much does it cost to train?

That will depend on the package you choose. Our basic rate is £30 per hour however each package will be priced slightly differently, so please see our price list in the ‘services’ tab above.

  3. Will my dog be ‘fully trained’ once completing your programmes?

The short answer is; it depends. The programmes are designed to give you, the dog owner, the education needed to raise a well-behaved dog, along with a functional communication system for all environments. However, if the education/communication system is not utilised where it matters most - at home, then the chances are your dog will revert back to the way it was before the programme. Putting in the work at home, being consistent at home, these are the things that make long-lasting change. We’ll set you up for the best chance of success through the programme, but achieving that success is ultimately down to you.

  4. Why can’t you just train my dog for me?

I could. But it would not benefit you in the slightest. The only way to change your dog’s behaviour around you, is for you to train your dog. The biggest influence on a dogs behaviour comes from the environment we put it in - home, hence why we prioritize owner education.

  5. Do you use punishment?

The simple answer is yes, although you may never experience it whilst training with us! The truth is, we believe that punishment is a part of life, a way beings learn what ‘not to do’. Punishment is often thought of as ‘abuse’ and ‘morally wrong’. This viewpoint often stems from a lack of understanding of punishment and the various forms we can present it in. Punishment can be a simple act of telling the dog ‘no’, or simply removing the dog from a situation entirely; a small price to pay for the clarity it can provide.

We will spend most of our time in training sessions and especially programmes teaching the dogs new behaviours so the likelihood of any punishment being used is almost zero! However, in some behaviour modification cases we will inevitably use some form of punishment to stop the unwanted behaviour (mostly social pressure/response cost).

  6. Can I bring people with me?

We allow 2 people per dog in group sessions (although exceptions can be made if absolutely necessary). For private 1 to 1 sessions it’s entirely up to you.
