My journey in dog training began around 2021 with one of the most prominent organisations in UK dog training industry, the APDT. Here I studied topics including ‘how dogs learn’, ‘punishment’ and ‘dog body language’ in order to complete my course and become an APDT trained ‘Dog Training Instructor’. Following on from this I have studied dog training with the Leerburg University. Below is the ongoing list of courses I have completed:

  1. Dog Training Instructor (APDT)

  2. Canine Communication Masterclass (Larry Krohn - Sit, Stay, Learn)

  3. Principles of Dog Training part 1 (Michael Ellis - Leerburg University)

  4. Principles of Dog training part 2 (Michael Ellis - Leerburg University)

During my first year of becoming a dog trainer I spent my time volunteering to work with dog owners and their dogs, tackling issues such as in home dog aggression, leash reactivity and separation anxiety. After much encouragement from these clients, I decided to launch VP Canine Education with the aim of helping as many dogs as we possibly can, by bringing canine education to the people who need it.‍ ‍

Background

Once you start training with us it will immediately become apparent how much focus we put into different forms of play and obedience. We use play to build confidence, trust and a communication system that is befitting for both the owner and the dog. Obedience is something we utilise to get through everyday challenges, like getting past a crowd on a street, or stopping our dogs from chasing rabbits! However, the training will always be adapted to suit the situation at hand.
